New features in Qlik Release April 2019
De Qlik release April 2019 contains a lot of news! There are new and powerful AI possibilities with Associative Insights; customers can take advantage of unified licensing for QlikView® and Qlik Sense®; and there is the initial product integration through which in certain Qlik Sense Enterprise editions have the ability to connect directly to QlikView apps.
With the Multi-Cloud functions, a full implementation of Qlik Sense Enterprise in the Qlik Cloud (Enterprise SaaS) and Kubernetes. This allows Qlik Sense run on AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and Red Hat.

Qlik Sense.
Augmented Intelligence
Associative Insights offers powerful new suggestions for AI insights that were previously hidden. This is made possible by the improved collaboration between Qlik Cognitive and Associative Engines. Associative Insights helps the user discover and understand the meaning of values in the data that are not selected.
Advanced Authoring
Enhanced User Experiences for Content Creators - new features for a better user experience, including improved workflows, edit mode selections, and refined layout options. Thanks to these new possibilities, Content Creators can immediately see current data while editing the visualizations, so that the visualizations can be created within a clearer context. Overall, these changes provide a more intuitive user experience when developing apps and performing self-service analysis in Qlik Sense.
New chart types have been added to the visualization bundle, including bar and area chart and bullet chart, and a new ability to set default chart backgrounds.
New Visualizations
Two new chart types:
- Bar and Area Chart - A bar chart with transition effects, connectors and labels.
- Bullet chart - a bar chart ideally used for target tracking, showing a target and a rating of good / bad / average.
Cards
It is now possible to set a default map background for all new map graphs. Although custom wallpapers have been available for a long time, users can now choose a predefined background instead of the default wallpaper Qlik.
Additional function enhancements for cards
- The ability to include newlines in labels, with improved appearance of labels in background maps (also added to Qlik GeoAnalytics);
- Legend with new formats for different layers of map points;
- The ability to insert an image as a background in a map, suitable for simple images such as drawings, plans, etc.
Mobile
Qlik Sense Mobile for BlackBerry - a new version of Qlik Sense Mobile, specially developed for Blackberry Dynamics EMM. It supports advanced management and security for BYOD environments. This allows BlackBerry Dynamics EMM users to access Qlik Sense in a mobile app for fully secure communication with end-to-end security, It allows administrators to Qlik Sense Mobile deployments across the organization.
Multi-cloud
SaaS implementation for Qlik Sense Enterprise is a standalone SaaS deployment option for Qlik Sense Enterprise (QSE), with the option of Qlik Fully develop, reload, and use Sense Enterprise apps on the hosted cloud of Qlik.
This version also allows collaboration between Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows and Qlik Sense Enterprise on Kubernetes for easily adding, updating and removing themes and extensions.
With the Qlik release April 2019, all deployment options are for Qlik Sense Enterprise - Qlik Cloud Services (SaaS), Kubernetes and Windows - available independently and working together as part of a multi-cloud solution.
The following options are now available for Qlik Sense Enterprise deployed on Qlik Cloud Services (SaaS) and Kubernetes:

- Link QlikView apps (QSE on QCS and Kubernetes);
- Supported Environments: Qlik Sense Enterprise on cloud services and Qlik Sense Enterprise on Kubernetes.
Qlik Connectors
- Support for Enterprise Data Sources in a SaaS environment with ODBC drivers in Qlik Cloud Services and Multi-Cloud environment;
- Extensive connectivity reload options with scheduled reloads for Enterprise SaaS;
- Enhanced SAP connectors support SSO for Bex from Qlik Sense Enterprise for Windows;
- Qlik Associative Big Data index;
- Expansion of the Qlik Big Data Index functionality - with additional “live” mode with aggregation options in a KPI object, for example: sum / min / max / avg.
Qlik NPrinting
Notifications of tasks in Qlik NPrinting - provide more efficiency around management.
Notifications by e-mail can be configured in the Qlik NPrinting web console based on the status of a Qlik NPrinting job. This allows administrators to be notified when a job ends with an error or a warning, for example by providing them with the job status and a link to the job execution page where they can view the log file for the specific job.
QlikView
New unified licenses for customers using QlikView and Qlik Sense Dual Use and integrated links to QlikView apps from within certain Qlik Sense environments.
A Qlikuser: a user is a user - A user now has one license to use Qlik (QlikView and Qlik Sense) regardless of permissions and implemented solutions.
